We are very proud to have been one of two national pilot sites to promote active participation from across the AHP professions.
The current Steering Group for this Hub comprises representation from Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
The C&L Hub is jointly supported by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and the University of Cumbria (UoC) working in collaboration with local clinical colleagues and aims to:
- Develop a supportive, vibrant local network for AHPs involved or interested in research
- Help AHPs to develop their research skills
- Raise the profile of AHP research within Cumbria and Lancashire
In addition to the Masterclass workshops and practical sessions, we also provide national and regional news about opportunities for research training and funding; a research 'clinic' and discussion forum; and update presentations from our past and current mentorship bursary winners.
We offer all our workshop events free of charge, but we ask that people email to reserve a place so that we can plan for room capacity and refreshments. We have found that half day meetings suit most people best; meeting venues alternate between Preston and Lancaster to maximise the access opportunities for clinicians working across this wide geographical patch.
The Research Mentorship bursaries are awarded following a competitive process in which the applicants are required to show how their skills development and proposed project fit with the strategic R&D objectives of their employer/organisation.
There is a requirement that successful bursary holders will present their work at future Hub events, with measurable outputs of building new research skills, experience and confidence, and relevant dissemination (including submission to a peer-reviewed journal where possible).
